Three Fun Things to Do on a Rainy Day

Dreary days tend to put many people in a depressed mood, but there’s no reason you need to be sad when the weather is less than ideal. Next time a wet day strikes, try one of these fun indoor activities.

Get Engrossed in a Good Book

Rainy days provide a great excuse for catching up on reading. Especially when it’s chilly outside, it can be very cozy and comforting to cuddle under a soft blanket with a warm mug of tea or hot chocolate and crack open a unique and interesting suspense novel (or a read within any genre that you enjoy). If you are near a window, the rain can even provide some natural white noise, which has been shown to help with concentration.

Play a Game

When going out isn’t an attractive option, playing games can be an entertaining way to pass the time. If you have one or more people at home with you, try breaking out a classic board game, like Monopoly, Scrabble or The Game of Life for some nostalgia and friendly competition. If you are alone, one option is to play Solitaire with a deck of cards. There are also many online games that only require one player.

Watch a Show or Movie

If there’s a TV or show or movie that has been on your watch list for a while, a rainy day offers the perfect opportunity to settle in and enjoy. To make the experience extra special, act like you’re in a theater by popping some popcorn, turning off all of the lights and silencing your cell phone.
